AND THIS YEARS COLOR OF THE YEAR IS: MARSALA!!!
by Kelly Leem, student reporter
-So this years color of the year is of course the beautiful reddish brownish nude shade, Marsala. Sephora made a palette based on all the shades that include Marsala colors in them. The Sephora+Marsala palette (not available anymore) dedicated to it is pretty expensive, so I will list the 2 palette alternatives, as well as the drugstore blush and lip colors.
Eyeshadow Palettes:
Urban Decay Naked 3 ($54)
-If you look at the Sephora site, the products they recommend to best match marsala actually includes the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. So if you already have it, you’re all set to express the color of the year
Nyx Love in Paris palette: Merci Beaucoup ($10)
-This has beautiful brown, golds, and coppery red shades that match the eye makeup introduced by the promotional poster Pantone released.
Blush:
-A beautiful wine color that matches the blush color on the poster.
Lip Color:
-It’s more of a browner color and has a frosty finish with shimmer. But, it has a nude touch to it that’s a tingle darker to marsala.
-Even though the lipstick is more red in the makeup for the marsala promotional poster, It’s actually more of a dark brownish red nude color. The milani statement lipstick and Maybelline creamy matte lipstick in touch of spice matches that category, but if you want a deeper wine lip color, I recommend you go for the Maybelline creamy matte lipstick in Divine Wine.
